Dehradun, until recently, did not have a real party venue — somewhere a group of 30 could turn up, take over a beautiful room, eat properly, drink properly, and dance till midnight without feeling like the kitchen had quietly closed at 9 PM. That changed when Farzi Café opened on Rajpur Road.
This is the guide for anyone planning a birthday, anniversary, kitty party, sangeet or corporate evening in Dehradun in 2026. We'll cover the realistic options, what each one is best for, and what to expect when you walk in to plan it.
What makes a venue a "party place" in Dehradun
Four things, separately or together:
- Capacity flexibility. Can the venue host 15 guests on a Tuesday and 200 on a Saturday equally well?
- Acoustic + AV setup. Music matters. So does being able to give a speech without yelling. Real party venues have proper sound systems, microphone setups and lighting they can dim.
- Decor adaptability. A blank-canvas room is no good if it can't be themed. Great venues have neutral bones that take to balloon arches, projection signage and themed table settings.
- End-to-end coordination. Cake, flowers, signage, DJ, projection, photographer recommendations, cleanup — at a great venue, you don't manage these separately.
1. Farzi Café Dehradun — Rajpur Road
Six private cabanas. A full rooftop. An onyx-lit bar. Floor-to-ceiling glass with Mussoorie hill views. An in-house events team that handles AV, decor, signage, projection, DJ coordination and catering as a single integrated package. Capacity scales from 10 to 200. The room takes well to themes — neon photo walls, balloon arches, projection — without looking forced.
Best for: birthdays (we run two-three per night on weekends), anniversaries, kitty parties, engagement parties, sangeet warm-ups, corporate dinners, product launches, full rooftop buyouts for big celebrations.
Not great for: weddings with 500+ guests (we top out at 200), ticketed nightclub events (we're a bistro, not a club), or anything that needs to start before noon.

2. Banquet halls at hotels — Hotel Madhuban, The Pacific
Traditional banquet halls inside larger hotels. Capacity goes higher (200+ comfortably) and they have wedding experience. Better for: weddings, large corporate conferences, formal anniversaries. Not great for: anyone who wants a relaxed party with a real bar, mood lighting and a kitchen that isn't a hotel buffet.
3. Standalone party venues — small farmhouses, garden venues
Dehradun has a handful of small farmhouse and garden party venues on the outskirts (Sahastradhara, Selakui directions). Best for: day events, kids' birthdays, larger family gatherings. The catering is typically outsourced. Not in city. Travel adds an hour to most evenings.
4. Hideout, Town Table and other cafés that allow group bookings
Several mid-size Dehradun cafés will take group bookings of 20-30 people for closed lunches. Not party venues in the full sense — no DJ, no curated bar programme, limited decor — but workable for casual lunches with friends.

One curtained cabana. Private. Candlelit. The chef builds a tasting menu around your favourite flavours, our sommelier pairs it. Cake, flowers, custom signage included. ₹ 18,000 minimum spend.
Two-cabana wing — for 16-20 guests (extended family / friend group)
Two adjacent cabanas booked as one private wing. Same setup, larger group. ₹ 35,000 minimum spend.
Half-rooftop buyout — for 50-80 guests (kitty parties, milestone birthdays)
One half of the rooftop reserved entirely for your group. Open terrace + 3 cabanas + half the bar. DJ booth available. Half-buyout from ₹ 2,00,000.
Full rooftop buyout — for 80-200 guests (sangeets, corporate events, big birthdays)
The entire Farzi rooftop. Floor-to-ceiling glass bistro, open-air terrace, all six cabanas, full bar, DJ booth, dance floor zone, AV-equipped wing for speeches. 120 seated or 200 standing. Custom menus, decor, projection, photographer recommendations. Full buyouts from ₹ 4,00,000.
What's included in a Farzi Café party booking
- The room. Reserved exclusively for your group.
- The catering. A custom menu built with the chef — browse the standard menu for inspiration. Vegetarian, jain, kid-friendly options available.
- The bar. Open bar or curated package (premium spirits, cocktails, wines, no-ABV).
- AV. Sound system, microphones, projection, custom signage on screens.
- Decor. Balloons, flowers, table settings, theme coordination — handled in-house or with our vendor list.
- Cake. A custom cake from our pastry kitchen or a vendor of your choice.
- Service. A 6-12 person dedicated service team depending on group size.
What's not automatically included
- DJ. We have curated DJ partners but they're billed separately (typically ₹ 25,000 – 45,000 depending on slot).
- Photographer. We work with three Doon photographers and will recommend based on your style. Billed direct.
- Entertainment. Live bands, dancers, fire performers — possible with notice, billed separately.
- Liquor licence above standard limit. For very large standing receptions we may need to extend the bar licence; usually handled in advance.

- Confirm with 30% advance. Booking is held with 30% advance, balance on event night.
- Decor and AV walkthrough. One week before the event, we run through decor, signage, music, speeches.
- The night. Show up. We handle everything else.
