This Privacy Policy explains how Farzi Café Dehradun (operated under licence from Massive Restaurants Pvt Ltd) collects and uses personal information through this website at farzicafedehradun.com. It is written to comply with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the Information Technology Act, 2000 (IT Act).

1. Who we are

Data Fiduciary: Farzi Café Dehradun
Address: 222, Dhakpatti, Rajpur Road, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India
Contact: +91 76177 71124

2. Information we collect

We only collect information you give us through the reservation or event-enquiry forms. Specifically:

  • Name — to address you correctly
  • Phone number — to confirm your booking via WhatsApp or call
  • Date, time and number of guests — to hold your table
  • Occasion or notes — to prepare for special requests (e.g. birthday, allergies)

We do not collect: payment information, government IDs, location data, browsing history, or any data without your active form submission.

3. How the form actually works

Our website has no backend database. When you submit the reservation form, your details are packaged into a structured WhatsApp message and the link to send it is opened in your browser. You then choose to send (or not send) the message to our number from your own WhatsApp account. We only ever see what you choose to send.

This means: your data never sits on our servers. It exists on your device until you press Send, then it lives in our WhatsApp inbox (governed by WhatsApp's own privacy policy).

4. How we use your information

We use the information you share only to:

  • Confirm and manage your reservation or event enquiry
  • Send you booking confirmations and reminders on the day
  • Prepare for occasion-specific requests (e.g. a candlelit cabana for an anniversary)

We do not use your information for marketing without your separate consent. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone.

5. Sharing your information

We share information only with:

  • Our restaurant team — limited to the floor managers and host staff who need to know about your reservation
  • WhatsApp (Meta Platforms Inc.) — as a result of you sending us a WhatsApp message; governed by WhatsApp's privacy policy

We do not share information with marketing platforms, third-party booking services, or advertisers.

6. Third-party tools on this website

This website uses a small number of third-party services:

  • Google Fonts — to load typography. Your IP address may be logged by Google when fonts are fetched.
  • Google Maps embed on the Contact page — loads only when you view that page. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
  • GitHub Pages — our hosting provider. Standard server logs (IP address, time, requested page) may be retained by GitHub per their privacy statement.

We do not load any analytics, advertising, tracking, social-media, or session-replay scripts. The site does not set any first-party cookies.

7. How long we keep your information

WhatsApp reservation messages are typically retained in our chat history for up to 12 months for record-keeping. After that, we periodically delete older conversations. You may ask us to delete your conversation at any time (see Section 9).

8. How we protect your information

Information you share is transmitted directly through WhatsApp's end-to-end encrypted infrastructure. Our website is served over HTTPS only (TLS 1.2+). We do not maintain a customer database, so there is no "central store" of guest data to be breached.

9. Your rights under the DPDP Act 2023

You have the right to:

  • Access — ask us what information about you we hold (typically just your WhatsApp message history with us)
  • Correct — request corrections if any information is inaccurate
  • Erase — request deletion of your conversation and any associated reservation notes
  • Withdraw consent — stop us from contacting you about a reservation
  • Grievance redressal — raise a complaint about how we have handled your information

To exercise any of these rights, WhatsApp or call +91 76177 71124 and ask to speak with our Grievance Officer. We will respond within 30 days.

10. Children

Our website and services are intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has shared information with us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted on this page for at least 30 days.

12. Contact

For any privacy-related question, complaint or request:

  • WhatsApp or call: +91 76177 71124

This policy is provided in plain English. The principles described here align with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011.
